Elitis Composite doors - solid, strong and superb

More than skin deep

Not all composite doors are the same - far from it in fact.

The term "composite" simply means that the door is made from a mixture of materials.  On that basis it could be made from iron filings and blancmange and still qualify!  Yet "composite" has come to be regarded as something of a badge of quality.  So when you're offered a composite door, you should be asking exactly what that means.

What's it made of?

Gallery composite doors don't contain any wood.  That's an important consideration for the environment - some manufacturers are still using timber from unmanaged forests - but it's also important for you.  Wood can rot and warp - you may already have experienced that problem in your old door!  Gallery doors are reinforced with galvanised steel, sealed inside 70mm multi-chambered PVCuframes, so they're built to last.

How thick is it?

Most composite doors are filled with foam thermal insulation.  So their energy efficiency is directly related to their thickness - the thicker the door, the better it will retain your heat.  Gallery Doors are a full 70mm thick - in fact their thinnest point is actually thicker than the thickest point of some of our leading competitors.

How's it finished?

Most composite doors come in a range of finishes nowadays.  In most cases that means your door is painted after manufacture to the colour you've chosen.  And paint can chip and scratch.  Gallery composite door skins are coloured right through - we can do that because every door is made to measure - so it'll never peel, and scratches and scuffs simply reveal more of the same colour.  So your door stays looking new.

How's it sealed?

Composite doors seal out draughts by means of rubberised gaskets between the door leaf and frame.  The sealing face has to seat exactly or draughts are inevitable.  It's surprising how much the structure of a house can move over the years, so a door that seals perfectly when installed can let in the weather after ten years or so.  Gallery doors feature a dual rebate that seals positively over a broad area on two distinct faces.  This gives a far more efficient, dependable seal that's also more forgiving of structural movement.

What warranty will I get?

Every Gallery composite door comes with a written 10 year warranty.  We build our doors to last, so we want to prove our confidence in what we do.
